Tencel is made from cellulose obtained from tree farms established on land unsuitable for food crops or grazing.
Its manufacturing has minimal impact on the environment.  A continuously recycled non-toxic solvent is used with an economical consumption of energy and water.
Tencel is appropriate for a wide range of men's and women's clothing, as well as upholstery fabrics and home-fashions.
In blends, it complements wool, cotton, linen, silk, polyester, and nylon, and enhances their natural properties.  Blended with wool, Tencel introduces new softness and drape; blended with cotton and linen, it increases suppleness and luster; and with stretchy fabrics it lends a quality of softness and shape retention. Weavers who use Tencel in towels have found the resultant fabric to be incredibly absorbent as well as soft.
